Whether you’re already subscribed or on the fence, this page tells you everything you need to know about my newsletter. The newsletter is a weekly email that contains any number of the sections outlined below. The email is designed to catch you up on my book-related written content, reviews of my novels, podcast episodes and videos.

I’m also trying to spread the word about books and stories I love, both new and classic. To see 100% of my book recommendations, follow me on X, Threads, Instagram and Facebook.

The articles I recommend usually relate to my views on the world of books, as well as political and cultural issues. Because my perspective is unique, most of the content I recommend is from The Rauch Review.

If you’re curious about why I like frequently using my last name and “R” alliteration in naming conventions, listen to this podcast episode.

If you have a book you want to promote on my newsletter, browse our paid partnerships page for pricing and other crucial information on how the process works. I do not accept all book promotion pitches. My preferences are books that are similar to my novels or align with my values/political views in another way.

Here’s an outline of what you can expect from the newsletter:

Writes

This section promotes a book/writing-related article, book review or short creative writing piece written by me or another contributor to The Rauch Review. The content is almost always from my site. Sometimes I promote articles and stories I contributed to another outlet.

Reads

A short list of books that have been on my radar. We usually promote one fiction and one nonfiction book.

Rewards

Read our Rewards page for the full details, but here’s a summary:

Reviews of My Novels

Excerpts from reviews of my novels, “The Last of the Mentally Ill” and “Teach Me How To Die.” Buying my books supports the Joseph Rauch business. As the saying goes, time is money. The more money I make from book sales, paid sponsorships and Patreon donations (as low as $1  month), the more time I have to create the best content for you.

Rants

I don’t always include this section. When I do, it links to an episode of my podcast, “Rauching to Judgment.”

Unlike my written website content, my podcast is not primarily about books. Topics are random, based on my whims.

I often describe my creative spirit as a typhoon inside my mind. When I write, I control that energy and produce something with structure, patience and clarity. My writing is the — relatively speaking — elegant expression of my soul.

The podcast comes from the same creative source, but its format is the opposite of my writing. “Rauching to Judgment” is raw, random and often raunchy.

If you want to understand its origin, listen to episode 1. I am curious to see how my book and podcast audiences will mix. My hope is my readers will become more interested in the populist political content in my podcast, which will then deepen their understanding of my books and articles. On the other side of the equation, I want my podcast audience to dive deeper into the wonderful world of literature, starting with my novels.

Reels (not always included)

Video content. You won’t see much of this right now, but we’re trying to ramp it up. Stay tuned. I think the main value points of video content are to repurpose our other content, get exposure on video platforms and show interactive props such as physical books.
