The intersection of
literature and politics.
The Rauch Review is a publication that debates what makes writing “good,” discusses the fundamental elements of literature, provides news and opinions — often from a populist/leftist/anti-establishment perspective — on the world of books, and features short creative writing pieces from skilled emerging and established writers who have struggled to break into traditional circles. If you value compelling stories, interesting characters and accessible prose much more than genre, author identity and stereotypical literary style, The Rauch Review is the place for you.

Message from The Rauch Review’s founder
Despite the culturally liberal values most literary professionals espouse, their approach to championing and analyzing literature is usually narrow-minded and exclusionary. Even the most well-written and compelling piece of creative writing can’t penetrate the literary establishment bubble unless it fits perfectly into esoteric, whim-based notions of marketability, genre, identity politics and style. Effort and improvement are not significant factors in determining success or publication.
If you want to complete your understanding of my literary philosophy, you may read our full backstory.
The Rauch Review is also a bastion of political leftism in a literary world dominated by centrists. If you’re unfamiliar with the terminology or aren’t sure you agree with my statement, read more about my leftist/populist viewpoints.
